Unlike other digital marketing strategies, SEO often takes more time and consistency to see results, but when success is achieved, it is usually more long-standing and has greater potential than other channels such as Paid Ads or Email Marketing. 

However, this does not mean that success in SEO is just for national brands with big budgets, as I have worked with local clients to get a good return on their organic SEO spend with a strategy that is personalised to both their business goals and targets keywords that they can realistically compete for in the SERPs.

My Approach

I consider Digital Marketing and Organic Search in particular to be one of the most exciting industries in the business world, as it is always offering new opportunities for those who wish to evolve and improve. This, along with the fact that making a change to a website with the view to improve its organic ranking could also positively affect its usability, conversion rate and performance, means to me, that good SEO is about far more than simply targeting improvements in the SERPs.

It is also my belief that advancements in new technologies, specifically in AI and its ability to refine workflows and deliver results, should be embraced – not viewed with suspicion – and it is this forward-thinking approach that I think is crucial for delivering the best for my clients.

Detailed analysis of your website with explanations of how to improve performance across technical, meta tags, content and links

Findings from the audit are used to create a list of tasks, ordered by priority to be completed over an agreed time period

Begin completing the tasks set out in the strategy and measure their impact within Google Analytics and third party rank tracking software

My Strategy

I typically start with a website audit where I can diagnose issues related to its security, crawling and indexing as well as content improvements. The findings from the audit then allow for the creation of a strategy which is usually split into three main areas of work; Technical SEO, Content and Digital PR / Link building.

The percentage of where efforts are best spent will be dependent on the existing strengths and weaknesses of your website but a consistent core focus for me is to improve your Expertise, Authority and Trust (E-A-T) which has been a feature of all Google algorithm updates since 2011.

My History

The decision to go freelance was made after working for a variety of agencies during the past ten years where I have been lucky enough to be involved with campaigns on behalf of Southampton FC, Burgh Island, Exodus Travel and JCT600.

Working on such premium brands alongside some of the best SEOs in Yorkshire has been thoroughly enjoyable and has provided me with the necessary experience to now shape my own digital offering, prioritising the components of Organic Search that I have seen work best.

Away from my laptop, I can usually be found in the gym or on walks along Leeds-Liverpool canal and the Yorkshire coastline. I have a keen interest in History and welcome all challengers when it comes to a game of table tennis
